Goodbye noughties. After a packed decade we're set to usher in 2010 ... what is the new decade called? Tensies, Tenties? All the rest make sense ... dunno. Anyway . . . .

We want you to submit your all-star Cardiff City eleven from the players to wear our colours during the period 2000 / 2009.

You should select a starting eleven in 4-4-2 format to keep it easier to collate the votes. List the squad in a format that makes sense (gk, lb, cb, cb, rb, lm, cm, cm, rm, st, st).

Add a few words on each if you like, and then select one as your star player, outlining the reasons why.

Submit your entry here - or via email to prog@cardiffcityfc.co.uk no later than midnight Tuesday January 5th 2010.

I'll admit that the prize hasn't been sorted yet, but it'll be a nice one, honest. Details to follow.

The eleven players with the most votes will be listed in our Blackpool programme on Saturday 9th January, followed online the next day.

I know most of mine.. who makes it into your team?

alexander , barker , gabbidon , johnson , mc naughton , burke , kavangh , koumas , legg , earnshaw , chopra

alexander in goal as he was the keeper for the best part of the noughties and we have only just found a decent replacement. barker in defence because he was one of our best players in the promotion season. gabbidon because he is just great. roger johnson has been cardiffs best player every year he was here and now theres talk of an england call up for him. mcnaughton because hes my fave defender in the current squad. in midfield i had to put in our promotion winning captain and leggy. koumas for me was the best player in that season and burke has been a gem this season. earnshaw and chopra upfront. star player - koumas , because he was amazing that season 05/06

GK - David Marshall - I think he has been excellent since coming into the club, a great shot stopper.

LB - Leggy (like Madonna only needs one name) - Not the most skilful player but he made it up with hunger desire and an unbelievable work ethic. STAR MAN

CB - Scott Young - Rarely lost anything in the air and although didn’t have a mass of pace his positional play was excellent. You won’t see a better tackle than the one against Leeds in the FA Cup game.

CB - Danny Gabbidon - All round player, good in the air, strong on the ground, good with the ball and had pace

RB - Kevin McNaughton - One of my all time favourite players, works so hard and has so much quality, has a bit of everything.

LM - Ledley - Another worker, Ledley on the left gave us balance and goals.

CM - Scimeca - Everything you would want from a box to box player, Still not replaced and greatly missed.

CM - Kavanagh - Why Lennie turned him into a holding player I will never know. Back in his attacking days he scored some unbelievable goals, him and Ricky together would have dominated game and got goals.

RM – Koumas – one of if not the most skilful player ive seen in a city top, he could pick out a pass no one else would even see never mind execute. His goals in that season kept us going at times, brilliant season.

ST Earnie - His scoring record says it all, him and Thorne were unstopable

ST Thorne (him with that super duper hat) - Held the ball up well, scored goals with his head and feet but most importantly always popped up when a goal was needed. As a

So many good players missing like Alexander, Collins, Johnson, Loovens, Croft, McPhail, Boland, Burke, Witts, Bowen, Ainsworth (Rock and Roll), Chops, Bothroyd, Simpkins (oh wait scrap that one)

#GK:-Neil Alexandra- During his 6 years at City Neil proved to be a very capable keeper, I was sorry to see him go, we struggled in the G/K department for years after he left, until recently when Marshall arived.
R.B: Kevin McNaughton - Tough tackling and hard working full back who's forward runs have been a feature of City's recent success, was brilliant at R.B in our cup run in 2008.
C.D: Danny Gabbidon - A quality defender who's performances against Bristol City in the 2nd leg of our play-off semi-final and also in the final v Q.P.R was one of the best defensive displays ever by a City player.
C.D: Roger Johnson - Roger was an integral part of our defence with Loovens that took us to the F.A cup final, a wholehearted defender who never let City down, another player I was sorry to see leave us.
L.B: Chris Barker - Tough tacklig left back, missed very few games while at City, one of the successes of our back four as we defied a lot of peoples opinion that we would not stay up in the Championship
R.M: Peter Whittingham - Although he started on the left, his move to R.M proved successful with some impressive displays in the last couple of seasons there. He recently scored his first hat-trick in league football.
C.M: Graham Kavanagh - A big money signing who lived up to his reputation at City, he scored with some magnificent strikes and was selected for the PFA team of the year more than once, led City to our famous play-off win at the Millennium Stadium
C.M: Jason Koumas - During his short stay with us he was pure class with his driving runs from midfield and his powerful shooting. He scored a number of stunning goals for us.
L.M: Joe Ledley - Local boy who has been a key player in recent seasons, his brilliant volleyed goal against Barnsley in the F.A cup semi-final in 2008, will always be one of the highlights of the decade.
ST: Robert Earnshaw - The 2002-03 season was phenomenal for "Earnie" at City, he scored 35 goals in all competitions, breaking two long standing records for us.His tally of 31 league goals beat Stan Richards 30 and his total of 35 beat Hughie Ferguson's 32. STAR MAN*
ST: Michael Chopra - His goal scoring exploits have been well documented since his arrival at City, will need to rediscover his prowess near goal for our push for promotion this seaon

Gk - Neil Alexander - One of the best goalkeepers we will ever have for a while his shot stopping was class and i loved him as a player, in my opinion he won the game for us in the play offs against bristol city and was always upset when he got dropped especially when it was for warner

LB - Andy Legg - Always loved leggys commitment to cardiff always gave 100% could defend as well as attack, his long throws were quality always causing problems for other teams

CB - Roger Johnson - We all saw roger grow into a top class centre back always showed alot of heart and commitment at the back was gutted when we sold him just look at him now in the premier league

CB - Danny Gabbidon - Another top quality defender always seemed laid back but was always there to get us out of trouble

RB - Kevin McNaughton - You can always see when kevs not playing at the back for city quality defender but also great in going forward

LM - Joe Ledley - Joe has always worked hard for cardiff especially when he runs up and down the left he can also score cracking goals but none more so than the winner against barnsley the technique involved in scoring that goal was immense and ill never forget it

CM - Graham Kavanagh - Was one of my all time favourite players and a fantastic captain for cardiff always gave 100% his set pieces were always top notch and he could score some great goals was gutted when we solf him to wigan Star Player

CM - Jason Koumas - What a player he was when he came on against leeds and he scored that goal i loved him and whenever cardiff had a free kick i always felt we were gonna score, had great passing ability and was gutted when we didnt sign him full time

RM - Jason Bowen/Paul Parry - I know ive selected 2 players here but i honestly think they are similar in their styles of play i used to love watching jason run up and down the wing just as much a i did with paul they always showed great desire and could score goals to

ST - Robert Earnshaw - What can you say about earnie, the pace this boy had was frightening and to score 35 goals (31 in league) in the 2002/03 season was something i cant see another cardiff player doing for a long time not the same player as he once was with us but none the less ill never forget him

ST - Peter Thorne - Peter and earnshaw were one of the best srike partnerships in the division in my opinion earnshaw would always feed off Thorne's flicks and without him i dont think he would of got to 36 goals, he always scored some important goals for us himself none more so that the winner at ninian park against bristol city in the play offs

kasper schmeichel - has his dads arrogance between the sticks

kevin mcnaughton - mr dependable
gabor gyepes - my rock in the middle
roger johnson - my star man and team captain who wore his heart on his sleeve
adam matthews - yes more for the future but showing his skill

chris burke - another scot!
aaron ramsey - a class act now coming into his own at the gunners
riccy scimeca - box to box and a mountain in between
wayne routledge - wicked pace i would have him back

robbie fowler - his oh so brief spell showed what he was capable of
michael chopra - part of a frightening strike force

i chose this team because on its day it could hold its own not only with any team in the division but in the premier league as well.

It's a tough call for player of this team of the decade. So many stories will be told about every single one of them. But for me, it's Kavanagh. It's tough to write just a paragraph about him, because virtually all that could be said about what the club meant and means to him, you could just as easily say about Earnie. But Kav was our captain, our marque player when he came in for million pound and firmly in our hearts he remained. When he came back with Wigan, it was gut wrenching, but he showed the character and the respect we knew he would. Still playing now for Carlisle United, but was back for our 'Legends Game' in the new stadium, because that word truly describes him.

CM Gary O'Neil - * Star man, best player I've seen in a City shirt in the noughties.
CM Graham Kavanagh
LM Joe Ledley
CF Rob Earnshaw
CF Jay Bothroyd

Subs, Neil Alexander, Glen Loovens, Chris Barker, Jason Koumas, Chris Burke, Michael Chopra & Cameron Jerome.

Picked as a side that could possibly work and play togrther, no players out of position and I've gone for Jay with Earnie as I could see that working, but couldn't with Chops & Earnie.

To qualify for my team of the decade, players had to have been involved with the club for at least one full season (therefore ruling out one of the best players I've seen for city in Gary O'Neil).

Gk: Neil Alexander - consistently really good for City. Sure he had his weaknesses but he was an outstanding shot stopper.
Rb: Kev McNaughton - a real quality full back. If only he could stay fit...
Lb: Chris Barker - A guy who always gave 100%, and he really stood out the year we almost got relegated back to league 1.
Cb: Roger Johnson - brilliant centre half who chipped in with some great goals.
Cb: James Collins - at the time we sold Collins I was devastated - more so then when Earnie left.
Rw: Chris Burke - He's been with us for 12 months now and he just keeps getting better and better.
Lw: Jason Koumas - a player who always got me on the edge of my seat when he had the ball. I remember some sublime free kicks and other outstanding goals. The best player I've seen play for the Bluebirds.
Cm: Graham Kavanagh - great player. Had his critics but in that play off final v QPR, Kav was awesome.
Cm: Aaron Ramsey - if only he'd come back to us on loan....
St - Rob Earnshaw - difficult choice between chops and earnie but this guy scored goals for fun and always managed to raise his game with each promotion we achieved
St - Peter Thorne - again difficult to chose between Thorne and Bothroyd, but just went for Thorne given that he was part of our promotion team from league 1, and scored some vital goals (along with Jerome) to keep us in the championship the year we struggled.

My star player of the decade I've given to Koumas. I know he was only here for a year, but during that year he was a different class to most in the division. Players with his skill are what makes football great!!

No one has Chris Gunter in there team exept me. He is an amazing wing-back. He was just unlucky that he was at Spurs the same time Gareth Bale and other amazing wing backs were there.

GK David Marshall
RB Kevin McNaughton
CB Glen Loovens
CB Roger Johnson
LB Andy Legg
RM Chris Burke
CM Graham Kavanagh
CM Aaron Ramsey
LM Peter Whittingham
ST Rob Earnshaw
ST Jay Bothroyd

Sub Paul Parry

Star player Chris Burke......has to be one of DJ's Finest signings....I believe our best wide player in years......more to come and the best player since Dave Bennett or Barrie Jones.

I had to include a sub and thats Paul Parry....... fans forget what he dd for us over the years.

Marshall is definitely our best GK in years....he has it all.

Our FA Cup final CB's were always top players......... a fantastic combination.

A pity to leave so many out but this is my top lot......... it was 50/50 Earnshaw and Chopra.

No one has Chris Gunter in there team exept me. He is an amazing wing-back. He was just unlucky that he was at Spurs the same time Gareth Bale and other amazing wing backs were there.

REPLY: Gunter like Ramsey only had a few first team games, would have been in contention IF they had stayed at City a bit longer, I know Koumas only had a short stay with us, but he was so influential in that time for us with some brilliant displays in midfield - well thats my opinion anyway.

same as me, people like Ramsey, O'Neil didnt get enough games for me to pick them. Koumas was here for the season and simply sensational.
Gunter wasnt in my team because he was average though lol

the trouble with koumas is that he drifted in and out of games far too much for my liking.

Gk - Neil Alexander simple reason he was between the sticks for most of the decade

LB - Chris Barker thought Chris looked lost when we sent him to stoke on loan, but after coming back he had a blinder.

CB - Roger Johnson what can you say, the lads got it all, and he's showing it now the the premiership.

CB - Glenn Lovens picked him over Gabbidon for the simple reason is that Glenn is an out and out centre back. At the time i didn't think danny was, but now is :)

RB - Kevin Mcnaughton has to be one of the buys of the decade, no one knew him before he arrived at cardiff but soon made an impact and gives 100% every time true professional

MF - Graham Kavanagh what can you say except OH HA ITS GRAHAM KAVANAH

MF - Stephen Mcphail we know people get on his back, but his playing making is next to nothing quality when he's on the ball

MF Joe Ledley coming through the acadamey and playing week in week he seems to be getting better all the time and at 22 hes ready for the big league with or with out Cardiff City

MF - Jason koumas Despite only spending 1 season with Cardiff he has to be one of the best players in the last 10 years to have ever played at Ninian Park

ST - Robert Earnshaw just god in this neck of the woods, and of course a fox in the box

ST - Michael Chopra Hardley anyone had heard of Chops, until he arrived at Cardiff. Another player who is loved and what a great goal scorer

STAR MAN -GRAHAM KAVANAGH - he gave 110% for the team, shirt and fans. The goal he scored against leeds will live with all Cardiff Fans forever

There are so many i woud have liked to put in like Gabbidon, Ramsey Boland, Whittigham and now Burke.

I am going to apologise in advance, I may mix up positions!

gk - Alexander - Hard to decide between him & Marshall but Marshall only just joined us so going for Alexander
lb - Andy Legg <3 Looking down the list he's in a few different positions (wahey) so forgive me if this one is wrong!
cb - Roger Johnson - solid, and scored quite a few - mainly headers from corners that I remember :)
cb - Gabbidon - The way he wore his socks so high over his knees made me laugh
rb - McNaughton - simply because he's the only one I know (never really saw Scott Young - don't remember much of Leeds FA Cup game) and has progressed so much since he first came here
lm - Whittingham - not sure if this is his correct position.. should it be Burke?
cm - Kavanagh - Absolute legend. I want to name my child Kavanagh if it's a boy!
cm - Scimeca - Hard to decide between him and McPhail, but chose Riccy as I will miss him now he's retired
rm - Ramsey - never saw him play much but watching him now I see we're missing him and he is brilliant
st - Earnshaw - obvious reasons, Bluebird through and through!
st - Chopra - just awesome. Although him and Earnshaw wouldn't work well together.. well that doesn't matter :D

Subs: Jerome (lush), Thorne (first City song I learnt was about him :D), Blake, Loovens, Collins

That was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do!!

GK - Neil Alexander, In goal for majority of the decade and consistant throughout.

DR - Kevin McNaughton, Could pick a team of super Kev's. Awesome in whatever position he's picked in.
DL - Andy Legg, Can't remember him having a poor game.....and that throw!!!
DC - Roger Johnson, I think Rog and Ginge would have been an awesome partnership
DC - James Collins, rocks at the back and always a threat in the box.

MC - Graham Kavanagh, STAR MAN, Mr Cardiff City, always played with his heart on his sleave and had the talent to go with it.
MC - Steven McPhail, Captained us in the F.A. Cup final. So skillfull and can influence any game with the right M/F partner.
ML - Joe Ledley, Local boy done good. Since Lennie gave him his debut he's shown his class. Needs to get back to those heights now.
MR - Jason Koumas, Best player i've seen in a city shirt. Love to have him back, would win a game on his own.

ST - Robert Earnshaw, Goals, Goals, Goals. Sores goal in whatever team, in whatever league. Awesome.
ST - Michael Chopra, his premiership class took us from championship also rans to play-off contenders.

Honourable mentions - Chris Burke, Riccy Scimeca, Aaron Ramsey, Danny Gabbidon, Jobi McAnuff, Peter Thorne and Scott Young
